At Yorkshire Marine Services, our guiding principle is to ensure the safety, reliability, and performance of your vessel. We achieve this through our extensive range of surveying services, each tailored to meet the unique demands of Britain’s vast canal and inland waterway network.
Hull Condition Surveys A vessel’s hull is its first line of defense against the waters it sails. We offer detailed hull surveys to assess the structural integrity and safety of your vessel.

- Still unsure? There are many reasons to consider our survey. Check out the details below. If you have questions, don’t hesitate to call us for advice.
Ultrasonic Thickness Testing
Testing and observations of the steel and structure of the hull, with thickness readings carried out using a Tritex Ultrasonic Thickness tester which enables us to survey in a none destructive manor.
Cathodic Protection
Ensuring the correct amount of cathodic protection is present through the installation of anodes and galvanic isolators.
Propeller and Steering Checks
It is important that the propeller, shaft, rudder, weed hatch are seated correctly and free of movement outside of their working expectations.
Deck and Fittings Checks
It is critical that fittings on the deck are structurally sound and present no risk to the vessels user. Including bollards, grab rails, filler points and breathers.
Lockers and Hatches
All hatches and lockers should be safe to operate for the user and should also be watertight and safe to contain equipment.
Internal Water Ingress observation (Windows and Vents)
Water penetration above the waterline can be just as costly as below. The surveyor will report on the fittings of the skin fittings, vents, windows, flues, and drains to ensure water is not causing damage elsewhere.
